The Nar Phu trek offers a remarkable journey to the remote villages of Nar and Phu, nestled near Chame in the Annapurna region of Nepal. This trail is a hidden gem, showcasing the pristine beauty of these villages inhabited by the Khampas, Tibetan refugees, providing a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in their authentic lifestyle.
As you trek on this adventure, you'll be treated to awe-inspiring vistas of majestic snow-capped mountains, encounter graceful yaks, traverse deep gorges and narrow canyons, and meander through enchanting forests. The journey also includes encounters with stunning glaciers and the challenge of crossing high passes like Kang la (5,200m) and Thorong la (5,416m). Don't miss the chance to rejuvenate in the natural hot springs at Tatopani.
Your expedition commences with a drive from Kathmandu to Jagat, from where you'll follow the well-known Annapurna circuit trail up to Meta. Crossing a bridge over the Marshyangdi River at Meta, you'll enter the mystical Nar Phu Valley. As you step through the narrow forested entryway, a breathtaking panorama of snow-clad peaks, including Kang Garu and Pisang, unfolds before your eyes. Along the way, you'll pass through ancient villages and monasteries and may even encounter herds of yaks and elusive blue sheep.
Your exploration continues as you spend a day in the alpine Nar Valley before embarking on a daring adventure over the Kang la Pass to reach Ngwala Village. From Ngwala, you'll rejoin the Annapurna Circuit, making your way to Manang. Continuing the trek, you'll reach Yak Kharka and then Thorong Phedi, a perfect resting place before undertaking the challenging Thorong La Pass, one of the world's highest.
Upon conquering Thorong La Pass, your journey leads you to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists, renowned for its 108 holy sprouts and an eternal flame. Next, you'll head to Jomsom and finally Tatopani, where you can unwind in the soothing hot springs, soothing your tired muscles.
